F-TEx 1.0 is a Windows based application. It is designed and implemented as a standalone application which provide the functionality for extracting Thumbnails from Thumbs.db files, found in Windows 2000/XP Systems.
In Windows OS like XP or 2000, when the folder view is set to ‘view thumbnails’ option, a thumbs.db file is created in the folder. It will contain small thumbnail images of the pictures and documents found in the folder. These include JPEG, TIFF, GIF and other image files, DOC, PDF and few other document formats. Even if the picture or document is removed form the folder, its preview remains in the Thumbs.db file, which makes Thumbs.db file forensics relevent.
This software provides environment where user can preview the Thumbnails in gallery view, or view details such as date of creation, modification etc., and export all/selected thumbnails to a selected folder. Apart from that , it can provide an enlarged preview of each thumbnail, with provision for rotating either clockwise or anti-clockwise.
